I Do a Happy Dance When People Don’t Work With Me
There’s a moment that happens in every conversation with a potential client. We’ve spoken, we’ve felt each other out, they’ve shared their story, I’ve explained how I work. And then there’s a pause. A decision for both of us.
Powerful women need powerful guides
I’ve realised over the years that to do that kind of work - the kind that doesn’t just support a birth, but transforms a whole becoming - I can’t just read a book and rock up on the day.
I have to embody the investment that people make in me.
What this year has taught me about birth
Every year as a doula leaves its imprint. The stories, the women, the births – they don’t just pass through me, they shape me. This year has been no different. In fact, it has been one of the most powerful years of learning I’ve ever had, full of reminders about why I do this work and what it really means to be “with woman.”
The patriarchy wants you to feel bad about this (don’t let it win)
Suddenly, anything that felt nourishing, expansive, or supportive for me… became harder to justify.
My needs started slipping beneath the surface. And the message was loud and clear. You come second now.

During her pregnancy, Charlotte focused on rebuilding trust in her body, exploring her birth options, and finding her voice within a system that can often feel overwhelming for expectant mothers.
